      In the universe of wine Bordeaux has always been synonym with prestige. The long and complex tradition of winemaking in the region makes Bordeaux wines seem sometime quite inaccessible. There are about sixty different Bordeaux appellations spread between two main regions: the left and right banks of the Dordogne river. The "left bank" Bordeaux wines are mostly Cabernet Sauvignon-based whereas they are Merlot-based on the "right bank".
